How Edina Primary Care works

Edina Primary Care has a workforce partner organisation as part of the business, with a strong track record of recruitment and retention.

Working as part of the experienced team within Edina Primary Care we create the ability to develop education and training programmes to improve the skills and competencies of our teams. New, innovative workforce modelling is also part of the development of the business to ensure we recruit and retain the right roles for the services required by the populations we serve.

We recognise that solving the workforce crisis is the key to building sustainable general practice, hence the inclusion of a workforce partner within the business. Our workforce partner is responsible for recruitment of clinical and non-clinical staff, to reduce any locum or agency cost, as well as review the incumbent staff on the basis that we recognise a poor working environment is not conducive to recruiting and retaining teams.

GUARANTEED INCOME

BASIC FIXED INCOME & PROFIT SHARE

GPs will receive a basic fixed income commensurate with the clinical and organisational responsibilities that they hold and in addition have the ability to share in the profits of the business. Therefore, when Edina Primary Care takes on a practice, the existing partners will have an option to take a percentage profit share (or shares) in the business, should they so choose.

ATTRACTING PATIENTS

DELIVERING QUADRUPLE PROVISION

Our vision will be achieved by utilising the extensive knowledge, experience and understanding of the Edina Primary Care team focussing on delivering the quadruple aim of healthcare provision. Our focus will be to offer the local population a consistent approach to the delivery of high quality healthcare with the aim of attracting patients to our practices.

IMPROVING SKILLS

EDUCATION & TRAINING

We create the ability to develop education and training programmes to improve the skills and competencies of our teams. New, innovative workforce modelling is also part of the development of the business to ensure we recruit and retain the right roles for the services required by the populations we serve.

  • Edina Primary Care is responsible for collective back office functions, including payroll, HR, IT and any other services that can be taken out of the surgery for added benefit and value.
  • Professor Kingsland is the Medical Director and Responsible Officer for Edina Primary Care. However, Edina Primary Care plan to form a new individual practice provider entity which must have at least one identified general practitioner named on the GP contract.
  • All clinical staff will operate best practice standards, working to NICE guidelines and ensuring that clinical governance is at the highest standard and that all policies and processes are up to date and followed.
  • Integrated care and multi-disciplinary team working to provide comprehensive and personalised care to individuals and improve population health management is core to our model. Our underpinning purpose in this approach is the prosperity and enjoyment of all team members, through worthwhile and satisfying employment in a successful business.
  • Consequently, the whole team will share the responsibilities of running a successful business as well as its rewards, where on achievement of our shared business goals and objectives the employees within Practices run by Edina Primary Care may receive, for example, an additional percentage of their salary as a bonus, based on the overall performance of the Practice versus budget.
WE ARE UNIQUE

In partnering primary care specialist experience with recruitment specialists, it gives our model the ability to staff a surgery as cost effectively as possible and manage staff shortages quickly and efficiently. It also gives us access to those healthcare professionals that can open up additional capacity whilst creating an exceptionally performing surgery and developing links with local CCGs and wider systems. you

Delivering our vision will not be without its challenges. However, the skills and expertise of Edina Primary Care in building the General Practice of the future, which includes solving the workforce crisis, will ensure the success of the business.

Edina Primary Care provides financial management with overall control and will maintain expenditure, profitability and decision making. The plan is to find the right practices with whom to work: GPs and their teams who share our vision and want to develop the general practice of the future. As part of our approach, Edina Primary Care Ltd will work in partnership and collaboration with local commissioners and system providers to develop an innovative model for the provision of Primary Care services.

The model already exists in the marketplace and has proved to be an excellent model that works and generates results. However, Edina Primary Care is unique.
